Website planning

What affects website pricing? Compare scope before price.

Two websites with the same page count can have very different scopes. Compare deliverables, what you must prepare and ongoing costs together.

01

Page count isn’t the whole scope

Repeated page layouts differ from designing every page individually. Ask how many layouts and content entries are included, and how much data entry is covered.

02

Who prepares content and images?

Separate content planning, writing, translation, photography and image licensing from development. If you provide materials, agree on formats and delivery dates to keep design on schedule.

03

Features and external systems have their own costs

A basic form differs from CRM, payment or inventory integration. Beyond development, there may be account, plugin or provider fees that should be visible separately.

04

Clarify revisions and handover

Ask about revision rounds, what counts as a scope change and which accounts, files and guides you receive after acceptance. Shared details reduce mismatched expectations.

05

Consider next year’s costs now

List domains, hosting, email, licences and care fees, including renewal rates. First-year pricing does not represent the full cost.

06

Request comparable quotes

Send the same brief to providers and ask for deliverables, exclusions, timing, revision terms and recurring fees. Then compare which proposal fits your team and goals.

A checklist to keep

  • Page layouts and content quantities
  • Who owns copy, images and data entry
  • Features and third-party fees
  • Revision rounds and deliverables
  • Recurring costs after launch
